AR-15 CARE & MAINTENANCE

AR-15 Care & Maintenance

Break-in, inspection, cleaning, and owner support guidance for AR-platform rifles and components.

OWNER SUPPORT

Before You Begin

This page provides general owner guidance. It is not a replacement for inspection, installation, or function review by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. Customers should confirm firearm configuration, component compatibility, and safe function before use.

  • Confirm your firearm model and configuration.
  • Verify all components are correctly installed and seated.
  • Inspect for visible damage, unusual wear, or loose components.
  • Use quality ammunition appropriate for the firearm.
  • Stop and contact WHA if anything feels abnormal.

General owner care should start with safe inspection and support routing when anything is uncertain.

EARLY USE REVIEW

Break-In & First Inspection

New or newly configured AR-platform systems should be inspected before live fire and checked periodically during early use. During break-in, watch for unusual wear, inconsistent cycling, failure to reset, excessive friction, or abnormal marks on moving components.

Support Note

If the firearm fails to cycle, reset, or function consistently, stop use and contact WHA support before continuing.

CARE BASICS

Cleaning & Lubrication Basics

Keep routine maintenance general, clean, and conservative. Do not force parts that do not move freely, and do not use this page as a disassembly or modification manual.

  • Keep the chamber, bolt carrier group, and moving surfaces clean.
  • Lubricate contact points according to firearm/component needs.
  • Avoid running the firearm excessively dry.
  • Inspect high-wear areas during cleaning.
  • Do not force parts that do not move freely.

Use routine cleaning to spot visible wear, debris, or fitment concerns before continued use.

SUPPORT CHECKS

Common Support Checks

Use these checkpoints to collect useful information before contacting support. Stop use if function feels abnormal.

Cycling Issues

Note ammunition, magazine, buffer/spring setup, and any visible wear before contacting support.

Reset / Trigger Feel

Stop use if reset is inconsistent or abnormal. Contact WHA support for review.

Component Wear

Photograph unusual wear patterns before additional use.

Installation Questions

WHA recommends qualified gunsmith/armorer review when installation or fitment is uncertain.
